UICT Student Innovations Secure Up to UGX 30 Million at Innovation Bootcamp 2026
Six outstanding student innovations have received funding worth up to UGX 30 million during the UICT Innovation Bootcamp 2026 held at the National Innovation Hub in Nakawa. The three-day bootcamp brought together over 800 students, mentors, and industry experts under the theme: “Transforming Student Innovations into Market-Ready Solutions for National Development.”
Out of 27 innovations pitched, the Community Based Smart Solar Dryer and App emerged overall winner, securing UGX 30 million in funding from Lwera Electronics and Semi-Conductors. Other funded projects included Eco Swap Energies, Smart Solar Silver Fish Drying System, Automatic Solar Panel Cleaner, Agro Link Uganda, and an AI-Based Tomato Disease Detection App.
Speaking at the event, Lwera Electronics CEO Mr. Ivan Karugaba encouraged students to continue developing practical solutions, while UICT Academic Registrar Ms. Agnes Lumala praised students for turning classroom knowledge into impactful innovations.
The bootcamp is part of UICT’s ongoing commitment to promoting innovation, entrepreneurship and industry-driven solutions aligned with Uganda’s national development priorities.
