The National Certificate in Electrical & Electronics Engineering is a foundational program designed to prepare learners for technical roles in electrical installation, maintenance, and electronic systems. This nationally accredited qualification equips students with the theoretical understanding and practical skills required to work safely and effectively in domestic, commercial, and industrial electrical environments.

Duration: 2 Years (4 semesters + Internship)

🎯 Program Overview

The program blends hands-on technical training with classroom-based instruction, enabling learners to gain competence in installing electrical systems, troubleshooting electrical faults, interpreting technical drawings, and maintaining electronic devices. Emphasis is placed on safety standards, energy efficiency, and the integration of emerging technologies in electrical and electronic engineering.

🎓 Course Objectives

  • Impart core knowledge of electrical circuits, power systems, and electronics.
  • Train students in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical wiring and equipment.
  • Foster understanding of safety protocols and regulations in electrical work.
  • Develop skills in interpreting and creating electrical diagrams and schematics.
  • Introduce learners to programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and basic automation.

🧾 Admission Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Have successfully completed the Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) or equivalent.
  • Show aptitude in science and mathematics.
  • Demonstrate interest in hands-on technical work and problem-solving.

Program Duration

  • 2 Academic Years (4 Semesters)
  • Includes workshop training, continuous assessment, industrial attachment, and final UVTAB assessment.
