National Certificate in Records and Information Management
Programme Overview
Welcome to the National Certificate in Records and Information Management page at UICT. This program is designed for individuals who are interested in understanding and acquiring the essential skills required for the management, organization, and preservation of records and information in various sectors
The National Certificate in Records and Information Management (NC-RIM) is tailored for individuals seeking to develop foundational knowledge and practical skills in the effective management of records and information in both public and private institutions. The course focuses on understanding record-keeping systems, document organization, legal compliance, information retrieval, and digital records management.
Minimum Entry Requirements
To be eligible for admission into the National Certificate in Records and Information Management, applicants must meet the following criteria:
Academic Requirements:
- Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) or its equivalent with at least 3 credit passes.
- The following subjects are highly preferred: English, Mathematics, and any other relevant subjects such as Economics or Geography.
Additional Requirements:
- Strong interest or prior experience in organizing and managing records and information.
- An aptitude for details and systematic record-keeping.
Program Duration
- Study Duration: Two years (4 semesters).
- The program combines both theoretical learning and practical experience, including internships or project-based work.
Tuition Fees
Tuition Fees per Semester:
- UGX 350,000/- per semester.
Administrative Charges:
- UGX 537,000/- for administrative charges applicable annually.

The application process for the National Certificate in Records and Information Management follows the same procedure as other programs at UICT.
- Sign Up: Visit the UICT Admissions Portal, create an account, and log in.
- Fill Application Form: Complete the online application form and upload the necessary academic documents.
- Make Payment: Pay the non-refundable application fee of UGX 30,000/- via mobile money or bank transfer.
- Submit Application: Once all details are completed, submit your application for review.
- Wait for Communication: Admission results will be communicated through email, SMS, and the UICT website.

ADMISSION/ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
A candidate shall be eligible for admission to the National Certificate in Records and Information Management programme on meeting any of the minimum qualifications
specified as follows:
a) Ordinary Level Entry Scheme (Uganda Certificate of Education)
The candidate should be a holder of Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) with at least three passes obtained in the same year of sitting.
b) Certificate Entry Scheme The candidate should hold a Junior Vocational Certificate (JVC) or any other
relevant certificate obtained from a recognised institution.
PROSPECTS FOR NATIONAL CERTIFICATE IN RECORDS AND INFORMATION MANAGEMENT (NCRIM)
Graduates of the NCRIM programme may opt to further their skills and education by offering a diploma and or degree in Records and Information Management or any other related programme of one’s choice
