VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
Applications are invited from suitably qualified Ugandans to fill the vacant posts existing in the Uganda Institute of Information and Communications Technology (UICT), Kampala. UICT is a Public Tertiary Institution established by Statutory Instrument No. 79 of October, 2005, managed and operated by Uganda Communication Commission (UCC) according to the UCC Act, 2013.
The Institute invites qualified candidates to apply for the following vacant positions at UICT.
ICT Department
- Part time Lecturers – four (4) in the following areas:
- Electrical/Electronic Engineering (2)
- Telecommunications Engineering (1)
- Multimedia Technology (1)
Management Department
- Part time Lecturersfifteen (15) in the following areas:
- Procurement and logistics Management (1)
- Library and Information Science (2)
- Records and Archives and Management (2)
- Law – Legal and policy aspects; of business, records, PPDA laws and regulations (2)
- Kiswahili (2)
- Clearing and Forwarding (3)
- Journalism and Mass media (3)
Administration

- Office Assistant
- Receptionist
The contract is for six (6) months renewable on satisfactory performance for non-academic staff and for the academic staff the contract is on Semester basis. JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Lecturer – part time (15 Vacancies)
Reports to: Head of Department – ICT/Management
Main purpose of the job:
To design and deliver quality teaching, research and consultancy programs in line with the Departmental mandate
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Review existing programmes and courses to meet existing demand
- Develop course materials for use in program delivery
- Deliver courses to students
- Set examinations, mark and submit student performance records to Head of Department
- Contribute to the program and administrative development of the Department
- Participate in preparation of funding proposals
- Participate and contribute in Departmental meetings
Key Results Areas
- Develops curricular and quality teaching materials
- Demonstrates acceptable knowledge and skills in program delivery
- Sets and marks students examinations in timely manner
- Participates effectively in program and institutional development

Person Specifications
A honours Bachelor degree in the related area. Two years teaching in a recognized Institution of higher learning or 2 years of industrial experience. Professional certification and Master’s Degree will be of added advantage.
- Receptionist (1 Vacancy)

Reports to: Administrative Officer – HR
Main purpose of the job:
The main purpose is to help enhance the public’s impression of the Institute by providing efficient, courteous and personalized front office service to the public.
Main duties and responsibilities
- To answer incoming calls; transfer or take messages; refer concerns or issues to appropriate party for resolution.
- To welcome visitors, provide standard information and directions post announcements and update campus boards.
- To answer routine questions about Institute services and or refer more complicated questions to other relevant personnel.
- To carryout secretarial work as assigned by the supervisor
- To open, sort and distribute incoming mail and prepare outgoing mail
- To organize and maintain office files and records as needed
- Any other duties as assigned from time to time

- Give accurate and timely information to the public
- Record and refer messages to the appropriate personnel
Person Specification
A minimum of a diploma in Secretarial Studies or Office Management with 3 years’ experience in a similar position. Bachelor’s degree in any of the above areas with two years’ experience in a similar position
- Office Assistant (1 Vacancy)

Reports to: Administrative Officer – HR
Main purpose of the job: Main purpose of the post:
The main purpose is to provide administrative support to the Institute Secretary’s office
Main duties and responsibilities
- To provide administrative support for effective running of the Administrative Officer – HR’s office
- To undertake prompt retrieval of the required documents
- Responsible for proper storage and issuance of departmental stationery
- To open new files as required
- To deliver documents in various offices within the Institute
- To assist in the filling of the documents in the department
- To requisition for office imprest and other funds are as required
- To assist in preparation of the meetings
- Carryout any other duties as assigned from time to time
Person Specifications
Minimum of a diploma in any of the following areas: HR, Social Sciences, Public Administration, Psychology and Industrial Organisation with a minimum of three years’ working experience as Office Assistant. OR a Bachelor’s degree in any of the above areas with two years’ experience in a similar position. A certificate in Customer care is an added advantage.
