UICT plans to offer Laptop loans as a means of addressing issues related to the “digital divide” which includes not only access to the Internet, but access to the technology required to make use of the Internet for various activities including on-line teaching and learning. UICT has rolled out full-fledged on-line learning on digital platform, for the both students and the teaching staff involved. During the baseline survey carried out to establish the student’s readiness for e-learning, it was established that many students would wish to embrace online learning but they are limited by the ability to acquire digital devices. In that regard therefore, the Institute has developed a scheme to enable students and staff to acquire laptops on hire purchase arrangement.
