OPENING HOURS

DURING SEMESTER

Monday – Friday
8:30 am – 9:00 pm
Saturdays
8.00 am – 5:00 noon

The Library remains closed on Sunday and Public holidays.
ADMISSION TO THE LIBRARY

  • All present students and staff of UICT are entitled to use the Library as readers and borrowers.
  • Students are allowed to register with the library after registering centrally with the Academic registrar.
  • After registration with the library, the students are issued with library cards. Therefore borrowing of information materials in the library is only done with a library card.
  • Library cards expire every 31st of October and once it has expired it is supposed to be renewed. Renewal is done after central registration with Academic Registrar.

BORROWING

Borrowing cards are not inter-changeable.

Lost borrowing cards must be reported to the Library Staff. A new library card may be issued upon payment of 2,000/= to the bank.

A reader is held responsible for any book he/she borrows. You lose you buy.

Students are entitled to borrow one book at time and can only stay with it for a period of 2 days.

Academic staff of the Institute may borrow up to 4 books at a time for a period of three weeks.

Administrative and Technical staff of the Institute may borrow up to
2 books for a period of 4 weeks.

A fine of 1000/= per day will be charged on every book retained beyond the permitted loan period, payable in the bank.

LIBRARY REGULATIONS & RULES

 

  • Maximum silence/order must be observed in and around the library.
  • Use of mobile phones in the library is strictly prohibited i.e. ringing/receiving.
  • Handbags, paper bags, back-packs & similar items are not allowed in the library.
  • Borrowing of information materials will only be done with a library card and this card is acquired after registration with the library. A lost library card must be reported to any library staff around as soon as possible.
  • Before you take any information material borrowed home, you must get permission from the library staff in charge.
  • All reading materials must be returned in time, a fine of 1000/= will be charged for every day one stays with an overdue book.
  • Stealing and damaging of any library reading materials/property is a serious offense and liable to disciplinary action.
  • Maximum cooperation with library staff is expected at all times in the library.
  • No eating/drinking/smoking in the library.
  • No playing music/videos/games on the library computers. Computers are meant for education purposes only. Avoid misusing the computers like browsing social sites, pornography etc.
  • Laptops are not allowed in the library computer lab.
  • No library furniture should be removed out of the library except with permission.
  • Reservation of seats in the library is not permitted and the sitting arrangement in the Library should be respected.

 

Caution:

You are advised to be security cautious. Be vigilant while in the Library. The reader next to you may be a thief and please you should report anyone you suspect of any wrong doing to any Library staff around
